About Reverie + Felicity Studio

Reverie + Felicity Studio is a woman-founded business that currently offers handmade soy candles and candle creation kits. These products are designed to encourage and inspire your creativity!

A Reverie + Felicity Studio soy wax candle is surrounded by yarn, and crochet supplies on a pink backgroud.

The candles are meant to be companions for you in your creative practice, whatever that may look like! This includes writing, stitching, drawing, baking, knitting, painting, carving, making music, crafting, cooking, crocheting, singing, meditating, sculpting, or dancing. Light a Reverie + Felicity Studio candle to spark and nourish your creativity.

Reverie + Felicity Studio Candle Creation Kit

The candle creation kits facilitate experiential learning and joyful exploration. They contain the main supplies and directions to make a pair of beautiful candles. Whether you enjoy the kit solo or with someone else, tapping into your creativity is a wonderful gift to give to yourself.

Operated by Erin Hils (she/her) on the traditional land of the Eno, Tutelo, Saponi, Occaneechi and Shakori Native people (presently known as Mebane, North Carolina), Reverie + Felicity Studio’s soy candles and kits feature custom-blended scents developed through Erin’s decade of experience working with fragrance, along with her imagination and many doses of inspiration from life.

Reverie + Felicity Studio’s name was chosen deliberately and with intention. Reverie is defined as a daydream, a vision, a musing. Felicity speaks to delight, joyfulness and contentment. Both of these words hold a lot of power for Erin: “I hope they resonate for you as well because I believe our reveries are deeply important to pay attention to and can lead to our felicities.”

Through Reverie + Felicity Studio, Erin also seeks to contribute to the creation of a society that is inclusive and equitable. This means imagining and working towards collective liberation, supporting truth-telling around systems of oppression, and being in solidarity with social justice movements. Ten percent of all profits from Reverie + Felicity Studio’s sales are contributed to organizations led by Black, Indigenous and people of color. You can read more about these organizations here.

Reverie + Felicity Studio products are also available for wholesale to brick-and-mortar shops. Referrals are always gratefully appreciated!

Meet the Maker

Erin Hils of Reverie + Felicity Studio holding her black cat, Lulu
Hi there, I’m Erin! Welcome to my creative home at Reverie + Felicity Studio. It's wonderful to have you here!

I’m a Xennial, cat lover, bookworm, idealist, Cancer and INFJ. I’m happily engaged to my long-time partner Matt, a brilliant SCAD-trained visual artist, and proud mom to Jacob, a wisecracking gamer and anime aficionado.

Now, I’ve not always considered myself a creative person. In fact, it was more than 30 years into my life before this notion coalesced for me. In the first few years after having my son, I noticed a curious internal shift. Looking back, I’ve come to realize that creating a new life had opened a connection in me to my creativity--something which I now believe we all innately possess.

During those early years, I slowly explored my creativity through interior decorating, sewing, painting furniture, crocheting, crafting and, you guessed it...candlemaking!

I’ve made candles now for more than a decade. (Previously I founded and operated Harmony Farm Candles from 2011 to 2020.) I deeply enjoy the sensory experience of fragrance, working with my hands and the transformative process of turning simple materials into beautiful products for you.

And Reverie + Felicity Studio is the next evolution in my creative endeavors! Though I still make candles, this venture builds on my past experiences and focuses in particular on unique scents I’ve personally developed for your enjoyment.

It’s my hope the soft flicker and gentle aroma of your Reverie + Felicity Studio candle is a treasured companion to connecting with your creativity and yourself.

With this business, I’m also practicing an embodiment of my values. Though I love to create and want to be a part of a community that nurtures the creative potential in all of us, I also don’t want to silo my values from my personal life and public work. This means contributing collectively to the creation of a more just culture in my work and life.

As a human being (always a human first!) and as a small business owner, I:

  • believe that Black Lives Matter
  • think white people (myself included) need to work to end the white supremacist systems within ourselves and in our country
  • affirm the LGBTQIA2S+ community
  • am an intersectional feminist
  • hold as true that bodies of all abilities and sizes are worthy of existing freely and without discrimination
  • respect all gender expressions and pronouns (mine are she/her/hers--what are yours?)
  • contribute financially in solidarity with individuals and organizations that support inclusion, liberation and justice practices

Thank you for visiting and being here today. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to be in touch!

Take care,
Erin
